‘Tis better to be vile than vile esteem’d，
When not to be receives reproach of being；
And the just pleasure lost， which is so deem’d
Not by our feeling， but by others’ seeing：
For why should others’ false adulterate eyes

Which in their wills count bad what I think good?
No， I am that I am， and they that level
At my abuses reckon up their own：
I may be straight though they themselves be bevel；
By their rank thoughts， my deeds must not be shown；
Unless this general evil they maintain，

Full character’d with lasting memory，
Which shall above that idle rank remain，
Beyond all date； even to eternity：
Or， at the least， so long as brain and heart
Have faculty by nature to subsist；

真挚的心，越不能损害它分毫。

这哀泣那么配合她们的悲痛，
大家齐声说：这就是美的真容。

Upon that blessed wood whose motion sounds

The expense of spirit in a waste of shame
Is lust in action： and till action， lust
Is perjur’d， murderous， bloody， full of blame，
Savage， extreme， rude， cruel， not to trust；
Enjoy"d no sooner but despised straight；
Past reason hunted； and no sooner had，
Past reason hated， as a swallow’d bait，
On purpose laid to make the taker mad：
Mad in pursuit and in possession so；
Had， having， and in quest， to have extreme；
A bliss in proof， and prov’d， a very woe；
Before， a joy propos’d； behind a dream.
All this the world well knows； yet none knows well
To shun the heaven that leads men to this hell.

在追求时疯狂，占有时也疯狂；
不管已有、现有、未有，全不放松；
感受时，幸福；感受完，无上灾殃；

这一切人共知；但谁也不知怎样
逃避这个引人下地狱的天堂。

Thou art as tyrannous， so as thou art，
As those whose beauties proudly make them cruel；
For well thou know’st to my dear doting heart
Thou art the fairest and most precious jewel.
Yet， in good faith， some say that thee behold，
Thy face hath not the power to make love groan；

And to be sure that is not false I swear，

For that deep wound it gives my friend and me！
Is"t not enough to torture me alone，
But slave to slavery my sweet’st friend must be?
Me from myself thy cruel eye hath taken，
And my next self thou harder hast engross’d：
Of him， myself， and thee I am forsaken；
A torment thrice three-fold thus to be cross’d：
Prison my heart in thy steel bosom’s ward，
But then my friend’s heart let my poor heart bail；
Whoe"er keeps me， let my heart be his guard；
Thou canst not then use rigour in my jail：
And yet thou wilt； for I， being pent in thee，

And Will to boot， and Will in over-plus；
More than enough am I that vex’d thee still，
To thy sweet will making addition thus.
Wilt thou， whose will is large and spacious，
Not once vouchsafe to hide my will in thine?
Shall will in others seem right gracious，
And in my will no fair acceptance shine?
The sea， all water， yet receives rain still，
And in abundance addeth to his store；
So thou， being rich in Will， add to thy Will
One will of mine， to make thy large will more.
Let no unkind No fair beseechers kill；
Think all but one， and me in that one Will.

大海，满满是水，照样承受雨点，
好把它的贮藏品大量地增加；
多心愿的你，就该把我的心愿
添上，使你的心愿得到更扩大。
别让无情的“不”把求爱者窒息；
让众愿同一愿，而我就在这愿里。

Swear to thy blind soul that I was thy Will，
And will， thy soul knows， is admitted there；
Thus far for love， my love-suit， sweet， fulfil.
Will， will fulfil the treasure of thy love，
Ay， fill it full with wills， and my will one.
In things of great receipt with ease we prove
Among a number one is reckon’d none：
Then in the number let me pass untold，
Though in thy store’s account I one must be；
For nothing hold me， so it please thee hold
That nothing me， a something sweet to thee：

That they behold， and see not what they see?
They know what beauty is， see where it lies，
Yet what the best is take the worst to be.
If eyes， corrupt by over-partial looks，
Be anchor’d in the bay where all men ride，
Why of eyes’ falsehood hast thou forged hooks，
Whereto the judgment of my heart is tied?
Why should my heart think that a several plot，
Which my heart knows the wide world’s common place?
Or mine eyes， seeing this， say this is not，
To put fair truth upon so foul a face?
In things right true my heart and eyes have err’d，
And to this false plague are they now transferr’d.

又瞎又蠢的爱，你对我的眸子

它们认得美，也看见美在那里，
却居然错把那极恶当作至善。

难道是我的心，明知那是公地，
硬把它当作私人游乐的花园？
还是我眼睛否认明显的事实，
硬拿美丽的真蒙住丑恶的脸？
我的心和眼既迷失了真方向，
自然不得不陷入虚妄的膏肓。

Unlearned in the world’s false subtleties.
Thus vainly thinking that she thinks me young，
Although she knows my days are past the best，
Simply I credit her false-speaking tongue：

And wherefore say not I that I am old?
O！ love’s best habit is in seeming trust，
And age in love， loves not to have years told：

这样，纯朴的真话双方都隐瞒。
但是为什么她不承认说假话？
为什么我又不承认我已经衰老？
爱的习惯是连信任也成欺诈，
老年谈恋爱最怕把年龄提到。
因此，我既欺骗她，她也欺骗我，
咱俩的爱情就在欺骗中作乐。

O！ call not me to justify the wrong
That thy unkindness lays upon my heart；
Wound me not with thine eye， but with thy tongue：
Use power with power， and slay me not by art，
Tell me thou lov’st elsewhere； but in my sight，
Dear heart， forbear to glance thine eye aside：
What need’st thou wound with cunning， when thy might
Is more than my o’erpress’d defence can bide?
Let me excuse thee： ah！ my love well knows
Her pretty looks have been mine enemies；
And therefore from my face she turns my foes，
